The stakeholder input was collected primarily through large scale online surveys. Key stakeholders provided feedback on the propensity and value of the survey approach and to assist in shaping the questions. The team’s objective was to maximize the number of stakeholder responses in the most feasible and cost-effective manner.
The objective of Survey 1 was to identify the priority stakeholders place on research needs for various technologies and strategies that would increase implementation of ZNE. Survey 1 was fielded widely through a combination of known network from the team, social media, industry association newsletters and the project website. Survey 1 was fielded from 7/19/17 through 8/31/17. We received input from over 560 stakeholders, which is the highest response rate of any ZNE-focused survey of its kind to date.
What priority do stakeholders place on research needs for various technologies and strategies that would increase adoption/implementation of ZNE?
Survey 2 was designed to gather detailed input from technical respondents on specific technologies of their choice. Survey 2 was fielded from 10/14/17 through 12/12/17. The findings from Survey 2 were be combined with the findings from Survey 1 and other tasks within this research project to inform the creation of a comprehensive list of potential technologies for consideration by the California Energy Commission EPIC program.
